These are chromolithographs from a 1892 edition of George Catlin's The Manners, Customs and Condition of the North American Indians written during Eight Years Travel Amongst the Wildest Tribes of Indians in North America, 1832-39. Catlin was an American artist and traveler who devoted himself to using his art to illustrated the customs of the American Indian. He painted over 600 pictures of Indians and their cultural life from 48 tribes.
