Very nice atlas that is complete in all regards, down to the free end papers and tissue guard over frontispiece. Black cloth with leather spine (raised) and corners, gilt titling front cover and spine, marbled pastedowns. Frontis, title page, advertisement, 172 pp, approximately 60 maps and plans, 7 views and diagrams, and numerous tables. This is a later edition that features the Republic of Texas map and text sheet. This state of the map shows counties and names Austin. Texas is shown as Independent on at least four other maps in the atlas. A remarkable example of this increasing scarce atlas. This edition varies from Phillips as follows: Pennsylvania includes New Jersey, the Illinois & Missouri map includes Iowa; additional maps are North Carolina (38*), Georgia (38**), Alabama (41*), Mississippi (44), Tennessee (47*), Kentucky (50), Ohio (53*), Indiana (54), and Texas (66.A).

Condition: B
Pages and maps are lightly toned with occasional scattered foxing, paper is sound and binding generally tight. Most maps have offset to opposite text pages. Binding is bumped and rubbed at corners and spine. Cover gilt titling is very good.
