Nice early nineteenth century gazetteer containing a general description of North America and the United States; the Declaration and Constitution of the United States; and a description of all the states, counties, cities, towns, villages, forts, seas, harbors, capers, rivers, lakes, canals, railroads, mountains, etc. Frontispiece map "United States of America" with an inset of New England, hand colored, [17.5 x 12"]. This map shows the Republic of Texas and the text contains a short section on the secession and resulting war between Texas and Mexico. 8vo, 536 pp, numerous woodcut illustrations in text. Contemporary spotted calf, gilt paneled spine.
