Two volume set. A comprehensive and readable account of all early voyages to the New World. First examines the voyages through the North Atlantic prior to 1600. Second takes up the tale from Columbus' first landing in 1492, to the discovery of Cape Horn by Van Schouten and Le Maire in 1616. Well researched yet masterfully and entertaining told. First - 758 pp, second - 712 pp, both with extensive B&W illustrations. Hard bound in brown and blue cloth with dust jackets.
